BeritaSatu Media Holdings

BeritaSatu Media Holdings is a private, non-government affiliated Indonesian media company and subsidiary of the Lippo Group conglomerate (Lippo, 2021) which places a strong focus on domestic and international news that impacts Indonesia. BeritaSatu Media Holdings owns a few brand subsidiaries which may be of interest for delegates to publish content under.

Unlike its sister company, CampusLife, which produces more youth-targeted content, its flagship BeritaSatu News Channel, alongside the physical and online BeritaSatu newspaper, targets middle-class Indonesian working professionals, and maintains a strong social media presence. Specialising in financial, economic and political news, BeritaSatu has previously shown interest in issues relating to government policy, state financial aid and corruption scandals. Their prime programmes include Indonesia Highlights, Jurnal Ekstra and DBS to The Point. While Indonesia Highlights summarises a day’s worth of news at midnight, the Jurnal Ekstra reports on entertainment news. In the context of SMUN, DBS to The Point may be most relevant to delegates. The short broadcast of up to 2 minutes offers a summary of most significant news stories (BeritaSatu, n.d.).

BeritaSatu Media Holdings also owns Jakarta Globe, Indonesia’s first English news streaming programme. It first launched as a physical paper in 2008 but has since moved online. Compared to BeritaSatu, Jakarta Globe targets a younger demographic, focusing more on business, technology, and hustle culture.
